Bay County is organizing staff in preparation to review and update the Local Mitigation Strategy (LMS). The public is invited to comment during this 30 day public review period, and later participation in public meetings to the document as governmental agencies work to revise the document. Participation in the rewrite to follow is open and interested persons need not agree to participate later to make comments and get feedback during the review period.
The draft work product of the community will be forwarded to the Florida Division of Emergency Management's Hazard Mitigation Division for review, recommendations for additional edits, and thereafter be adopted by every local municipal Board and the County Board at a public meeting. Members of the public, together with private-non-profits, colleges, together with interested businesses and organizations, State and/or Federal Agencies are encouraged to participate in this process. The primary focus for this rewrite will be to bring the LMS more in line with the Community Rating System (CRS).
